Personal Counseling

The Counseling Ministry offers a trustworthy group of counselors who provide professional guidance


Christ-centered, professional counseling is available near the campus of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church. Our licensed professional counselors have years of education, life experience and professional practice to help direct the healing process. Our treatment approach addresses the whole person - emotionally, physically and spiritually. Both male and female counselors are available and fees are low compared to other professional services in our community.

James offers individual (adolescent/adult), marriage, and family counseling. With adults, his areas of interest/special training include anxiety/depression, anger and stress management, parenting, communication problems, and coping with sudden life changes. He also has extensive experience working with adolescent males having issues related to anger, authority, bullying, impulse control, and other related factors which might contribute to academic failure, or severe emotional distress.

Marcy offers individual counseling for children, adolescents and adults as well as family counseling. She counsels children and teenagers with mood disorders, ADD, anger issues, school concerns and other behavior problems. When counseling adults, Marcy’s primary focus is on depression and anxiety disorders. Her special interests include counseling teenage girls and women, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, co-dependency, family of origin issues, parenting skills, divorce and blended families.

Jennifer is licensed by the state of Texas as an LPC-intern which allows her to counsel under the supervision of a licensed experienced mental health provider. Jennifer graduated with a Masters in counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary where she received counseling experience working with individuals, couples, and groups. Jennifer offers individual counseling for adolescents and adults; as well as marriage, and premarital counseling.  She is certified as a Prepare and Enrich facilitator.  In individual counseling her primary focus is anxiety, depression, anger and stress management, and coping with sudden life changes.  Her special areas of interest include adolescent issues, ethnic identity issues, divorce care, and trauma counseling.

Jennifer Barlow offers counseling to adults, young adults and pre-adolescent children.  Jennifer provides counseling for stress management, depression, grief, anxiety, sexual trauma, marriage issues, women's issues, and adapting to life change.  She is a Certified Stress Management Consultant through Dan McGee Associates and is also a certified practitioner for Prepare/Enrich, a premarital and marriage enrichment assessment.  Additionally, Jennifer offers life coaching for people who have specific goals they are looking to achieve and for individuals who feel "stuck" in an area of their life or business. Jennifer holds a BA in psychology from University of Texas, MA in Marriage and Family Counseling, MA in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
