Sunday Morning

Every Sunday the Children's Ministry teaches kids Biblical truths that prepare them for a lifetime of serving Christ! Fun games, energetic activities, and interactive small groups engage kids and help them understand God's love and His Word.

Nursery

Babies and Toddlers (6 weeks – 24 months)

Sunday Mornings at 8:30a, 9:30a, and 11:00a

Before arrival, please see that the following items belonging to your child are properly labeled with your child’s name: Diaper bag, Pacifiers, Diapers, Bottles/cups, Clothing, Lovies or blankets.

nurserySpecial instructions for your child can be written on our Toddler Tattler form.  Knowing what time your child needs to eat or sleep will help your child have a happy morning. Silent pagers will be given to all parents when a child is checked into our nursery area. We ask you please provide an adequate supply of diapers (we supply wet wipes) and send a change of clothes. An age appropriate snack is given to our older babies (Cheerios) and toddlers (Butter Cookies).  Please indicate any allergies that your child may have. A mother’s room with televised sermon and changing facilities is provided near the House of Worship.  A nursery coordinator will be happy to help you locate the room. All toys, swings, and beds are cleaned with a disinfecting solution at the end of each session.  New sheets and blankets are used with each child. Babies, crawlers, and toddlers will be promoted to older rooms as they develop.

We serve a snack of butter cookies and water to our two year old classes at 11:00a and to the three and four year olds during the 11:00a hour. Other foods/snacks should not be brought into the preschool classrooms. Personal toys should be left with mom and dad or in the car. We have activities planned to keep your child busy and happy. When weather is permitting we take the preschoolers outside during the 11:00a class time.  All preschoolers are placed in classrooms based on their birth date as of September 1. They will promote to an older class in the fall each year.

Curriculum
Our desire is for your child to have the best possible experience during their time at church. We are committed to helping your child know who God is. By partnering with you we can successfully lay the foundation for spiritual growth for your child.

Our toddlers and two year olds use Standard Publishing’s Heartshaper Children’s curriculum on Sunday mornings. The threes and pre-k classes use Lifeway’s Gospel Project. Both curriculums provide flexibility and options for us to use to teach age appropriate lessons in different ways each hour your child is here. We are able to emphasize the same Bible truth for the classroom lesson one hour and in a chapel lesson another hour. The stories are used with games, activities, crafts, and color sheets to reinforce the Bible story that is being presented each week. We want to reassure you that your child will have a different learning experience each hour and encourage you to attend a Life Group class and worship service.

Kids Want to Have Fun...Nowhere is that more likely than in Creek Kids Life Groups. The large group lessons use arts/drama, music, multi-media and creative Bible less
ons to engage kids and help them establish a lifelong relationship with Christ.

Creek Kids provides the opportunity for kids to be a part of a small group (8 to 10 kids) with one adult leader meeting together each week. It’s the special connection where kids feel welcomed, valued and cared for while learning who Jesus is, how to follow Him, and how basic Biblical truths can help them make the right choices now and throughout their lives.

FAQ

Early Childhood

What should I expect on my first visit?

Guests with children that are visiting Cottonwood Creek for the first time are asked to come to our Children’s Welcome Desk in the north atrium

When checking in your child the first time, you will be asked several questions in order to create a record for your family.  (Upon further visits you will be able to visit any of our stand alone check in stations and enter your phone number.)

After completing the registration, stickers that are part of our security system will be given to your child to be worn throughout the morning.  This sticker will have their name, class assignment, and a 3 digit alpha numeric security code.  Parents will receive a security tag to use for pick up of their children and a sticker that has the location of the room.

Parents will then sign their child in at their classroom.

Silent pagers are available for children birth-Pre K

Nursery and preschool programming is available to children of parents participating in activities and services of the church.  Parents should remain on the church campus.

Safety

All of our early childhood classes require two leaders to be in a room in order to accept children.

Each of our adult leaders are annually background checked and will be wearing a lanyard with a picture I.D. badge or a security sticker printed from the check in system.

Our youth leaders must be 14 years old to serve in our preschool area and have completed a youth covenant that requires a parent signature.

Children will only be released to adults, not siblings.

We ask that you stop at the door and not enter the classroom when dropping your child off.  This is less disruptive for other children and allows us to know that only background checked adults are in the room with our babies and preschoolers.

You will be required to show your security tag when picking up your child.  If you have lost or misplaced your tag during the morning, we ask that you stop by the front desk in order to have us look up your information in our system.

Health Policy

To protect your child and other children, any child who appears ill or has been ill in the preceding 24 hours should not be brought to an early childhood room.  Children need to be free of fever and without fever reducing medication for 24 hours before coming into contact with other children.  A child should not be brought to church when the following exists:

• Common cold (green or colored runny nose)
• Fever (must for fever free for 24 hours)
• Vomiting and/or diarrhea within the previous 24 hours
• Any symptoms of childhood illness or disease – chicken pox, scarlet fever, etc.
• Sore throat
• Croup or frequent cough
• Any unexplained rash
• Any skin infection – boils, ringworm, impetigo
• Pink eye and other eye infection

Elementary

When I arrive, where will I drop off my child?
K - 1st Grade meets in Room A254 (Pick-up in A256)
2nd - 3rd Grade meets in Room A254 (2nd Grade Pick-up in A254, 3rd Grade is Dismissed)
4th - 5th Grade meets in Room A234

Who can pick up my elementary age child?

All K-2nd kids must be picked up by an older sibling or adult. 3rd - 5th kids are dismissed at the end of class. Parents should arrange a meeting place with their children.

What does our elementary Sunday morning look like?

All students begin with large group time involving worship and a lesson based on Biblical truths. Students then transition into small groups where leaders reinforce and apply the lesson for the day.

Can my elementary student attend both the 9:30a and 11:00a class?

We ask that students attend only one hour of Bible Study and use the other hour to worship with their family.

What will my child learn each week?

The curriculum we currently use is called "The Gospel Project".

How can I get more information about the events offered at Cottonwood Creek
