Fun with the Son

Fun with the Son

Saturday, August 21, 8:00a - 12:00p (volunteers arrive at 7:00a), Old Settler's Park
Fun with the Son is an opportunity for you to help local children from low-income families receive gently used school clothes, immunizations, dental screenings, and supplies while most importantly learning about Jesus Christ.  Over 1,800 children will receive clothes and more than 3,000 people will hear the Gospel.  For information on Fun with the Son, contact Justin Frazier at 972.359.7777 x2424.

How Can I Get Involved?

Clothing and Shoe Donations
Please donate your gently used clothes and shoes of all sizes.  Please place these items in the plastic pools located in front of the Courts.  In order to provide for every family that will come to the event, we need approximately 30,000 articles of clothing.  A tax deduction receipt will be available at the CreekStore.

Support
Sponsor a child for $5.  In addition to clothing and shoe donations, backpacks will also be given to all children.  Please help support FWTS and the purchase of the backpacks and other supplies by donating $5 to sponsor a child.  Make checks payable to CCBC and put FWTS in the memo.  Checks may be dropped off at the CreekStore.  You may also designate $5 to FWTS on your regular giving envelope and place it in the offering on Sunday.

"Life Saver" Counselors
We need approximately 100 “Life Savers” to share the awesome message of Christ!  Evangelism Training on how to share the Gospel (during canvassing and at the event) will occur on Saturday, August 7 from 1:00p until 5:00p.  Childcare will be provided during training.

Packing/Sorting Party
Saturday, August 14 - Join us at the church at 8:00a to sort clothes and pack supplies for the event.  Training will be provided following the packing party for those who volunteer to do balloon animals, face painting, and gospel bracelets.

Canvassing
Saturday and Friday, August 13 and 14 - Join us at the church either at 6:30p on Saturday or 5:00p on Sunday to go door-to-door telling people about the event.  Be ready to share the Gospel if the opportunity presents itself!

Event Activities
Saturday, August 21 - Join us at Old Settler’s Park in McKinney!  The event is from 8:00a until the last person hears the Gospel.  Volunteer activities include sharing the Gospel, face painting, bracelet making, balloon animals, site set-up and more.  Please see the FWTS Volunteer Sign-up sheets in your ABF or at the Creek Store.

Pray
Pray for the children, parents and volunteers.

Other Ways for YOU to be Involved

Bottled Water
We need approximately 5,000 bottles of water for the day of the event.  Please volunteer to bring one case (24 ct) of bottled water by August 13 at 5:00p.  Donations can be left in the plastic pools with the clothing and shoe donations.

Cookies
We need a minimum of 100 people to bake (or buy) 4-dozen cookies each to be handed out on the day of the event.  Place 2 cookies in a zip lock bag labeled “FWTS” and leave in the church kitchen on Friday, August 20 by 5:00p.

Canopies
Please let us know if we can use your canopy for the event.
